About BodyMind Design Founder Amanda Taylor
Amanda Taylor founded BodyMind Design, a STOTT PILATES® LTC, studio in 2000 to provide quality STOTT PILATES® instruction. BodyMind Design has attracted a great number of trainees offering a variety of courses to become certified STOTT PILATES® instructors. As a fully certified STOTT PILATES® Instructor Trainer, Amanda is qualified to certify instructors in all levels of Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels. She is also qualified to teach Injuries and Special Populations. Amanda received her training and certification at the STOTT PILATES® International Certification Center in Toronto, Canada.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Science in Theatre/Dance, and has performed in numerous productions in the United States, Europe and Japan. Her experience in theatre and dance and her personal journey with mind/body fitness, enabled her to apply these experiences to the teachings of the Pilates Method.
Amanda’s Pilates journey began in 1992. She taught in health clubs, spas, and corporate fitness centers gaining experience and knowledge in her teaching skills and, of course, hoping to make a difference in her client’s lives! Beyond Pilates, Amanda has also studied extensively with internationally recognized yoga teacher John Friend, the creator of Anusura Yoga. She attended many of John Friend’s teacher training courses to bring a deeper understanding to body alignment techniques and teaching skills. She also enjoyed teaching as a certified instructor of the NIA Technique, a cardiovascular blend of dance modalities and martial arts. The integration of these art forms helps to open the heart and to relax the mind experiencing joy from the art of healing through dance. “At that time in my life, I was no longer in the performance world. Teaching NIA allowed for a creative approach to dance that brought variety to my life and teachings. I have to say, jazz hands did slip into the routines every now and again. Funny thing, in my STOTT PILATES® courses, I still throw out jazz hands when the moment moves me”!
Although the fitness modalities that Amanda taught gave her great joy, she became restless with her Pilates practice. She traveled to reputable studios around the United States seeking more clarity in the essence of the Pilates exercises. Looking to answer the questions: What, Why and How, Amanda found the STOTT PILATES® method. She finally discovered a Pilates organization that could provide her with the education she had been searching for. After opening BodyMind Design, she continues to take STOTT PILATES® workshops and courses in order to stay current with the evolving material.
“I am so honored to be a part of the STOTT PILATES® organization. It is the presentation and integrity of the Merrithew Corporation, where STOTT PILATES® originated, which gave me the courage to open my studio, BodyMind Design. Coming from a performance background into becoming an entrepreneur, there were many important lessons to learn in order to provide a solid, nurturing and positive environment.
