As a team at BMD we share a circle of energy that allows for a cohesive union of like minds. We appreciate the integrity and clarity that the updated method promotes. Although STOTT PILATES® embraces the essence of Joseph Pilates’ original work, it is the continuous research of modern biomechanical knowledge that has evolved the method to insure safe and effective movement.
The Five Basic Principles of Alignment incorporated in each exercise gives us the fundamental body awareness to implement the exercises with precision. This focused intention helps to develop the Body/Mind intelligence making a significant difference in the results of obtaining your fitness goals. The principles teach us as individuals what our neutral spinal position is, breathing techniques that assist core stabilization and understanding the correct body mechanics when performing a Pilates excercise. There is also an emphasis on conditioning the intrinsic muscles that support the joints when lengthening and strengthening the muscular structure. We are then able to program workout sessions that are innovative and with versatility. As precise as this method is, we still like to have fun bringing humor and insight allowing for a positive learning environment.
